Buy Car Insurance This December

The time of the year when you decide of to buy auto insurance greatly influences the overall price of the policy. A recently released study by InsuranceQuotes.com supports this theory. The data provided show that on average, the cheapest month to buy car insurance is in December, when the national median cost of a new full-coverage auto policy for a 35-year-old single male with a $500 deductible (and a clean driving record) costs 8 percent less than it does in March, which was determined to be the most expensive month.  So, this is why you must buy auto insurance in December.  Check the offer from any major car insurance company for this month. You will certainly be surprised by the offers.

The study ordered by insuranceQuotes.com, concluded that car insurance premiums in certain states varied widely from month to month. This means that it is cheaper to purchase auto insurance during some months, and more expensive during others.

The study crosschecked monthly premiums in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The premium variations were extremely high in certain states. For example, the average cost of a new auto policy in Hawaii is 48 percent cheaper in December than it is in March.

Data provided by the study shows thatDecember was the cheapest month to buy auto insurance — not just nationally, but for the following 22 states: Arizona, Alaska, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Wyoming and Washington, D.C. The states with the most lax rate regulation of auto insurance — Vermont and Montana, for instance — have their lowest rates in December.
